Philosophizing is the act of self-knowledge, the rigor and patience to get to know oneself, in one’s life, and the world they inhabit. The practice of asking what it means, for me, and having the groundedness to open a gaze wide enough for an answer to come. It is the grounded belief in seeing oneself deeply and knowing that there is more to come. It is an optimistic act, anchored in realism and love.
Philosophizing as a way of being and a way of self-leadership reclaims philosophy from academics and creativity from marketers. The bifurcation of meaning from value is the output of a system too obsessed with its efficiency to care about its sustainability. With AI in the picture, efficiency costs nothing, and sustainable (embodied) attention means everything.
Meaning and value are the same. They always have been; we might have just forgotten it when in a world of scarce production.
This week, I invite you to seek a place for philosophizing. Which is anywhere you are, when you ask yourself: (1) what does this thing I am looking at, that claimed my attention, (2) mean for me?
