Articulation
Communication degrades with efficiency – when trying to communicate thin meaning with too many words, or when running out of patience and space to develop a living idea, and resorting to the nearest, more efficient version.
Technologies that artificially remove friction (/aesthetics) compound this blind spot and make it easier to send thin signals. They mute uneasiness about gaps in meaning by the (1) number of signals and (2) false gestures by the receiver, who is also in a place of narrow meaning.
Media, scale, and efficiency consistently average value and operate against the meaning (change) you're trying to bring to the world.
This week, I invite you to connect to an idea you're compelled by and develop it on your desktop (or a personal place of practice) before going to the internet.
